Staying Human in the Age of AI: Nervous System Regulation for a New Era

I really enjoyed hosting the workshop yesterday, and getting the opportunity to nerd out on two of my favorite topics: nervous system regulation and using AI intentionally.

I posted an article on X saying how working with codex (AI) has changed my life as a solopreneur, and I believe it can also be wielded as a force for deepening human craft rather than hollowing it out.

But that said, there are many pitfalls and risks: from AI brainfry and atrophy of human skills, to sub-clinical attachment disorders and loss of agency.

So this workshop was my attempt at charting a path which acknowledges the risks whilst also embracing the empowering potential that using AI can bring.

Early Bird Discount Ends Tonight

Early bird doors for Nervous System Mastery are still open...until tonight.

I believe that a regulated nervous system will become a vortex of safety & connection for others who might be less grounded or experiencing intensity.

I also feel that learning to regulate your own nervous system in a community of people doing the same has ripple effects that go father than we might imagine.

If you would like to end the year feeling more grounded and more connected to the humans around you, I would highly recommend considering joining this upcoming cohort (and you'll save $250 off enrollment until midnight tonight with code EARLYBIRD)

Energy Audit

A weeklong journaling exercise to tune you into your energy levels through daily tracking.

Why: Developing an awareness of your daily energy fluctuations enables you to identify optimal windows for deep work, recognize early warning signs of burnout, and make data-informed decisions about scheduling and recovery.

How:

  1. For one full week, set 3 daily check-in times (e.g., morning, afternoon, and evening)
  2. At each check-in, rate on a scale of 1-10 your:
    - Mental energy (clarity, focus)
    - Physical energy (vitality, body sensation)
    - Emotional energy (mood, resilience)
  3. Note key influencing factors:
    - Sleep quality
    - Recent meals/hydration
    - Movement/exercise
    - Social interactions
    - Work intensity

Tip: Keep your logs simple—a quick note in your phone is sufficient. Some find it helpful to use a simple emoji system (⚡️🔋💤) in their calendar to track energy states. The real value will come from spotting patterns over time, so keep it light and accessible.

// UPDATE FROM SANTA CRUZ Well, that was an exciting week... The How to Unclench essay received over a million views on twitter/X, I find it somewhat re-assuring that people still have the attention span to read a 30 minute essay. Or as my friend Rob Hardy likes to say: "The people they yearn for depth." I'm heading off-grid for a few days to recharge in nature, see you on the other side. Roughly a year ago I shared this post on X about unclenching that went viral and was seen by 1.8 million people. So it seemed like there was something here that was resonating. The more that I dug into the concept of 'unclenching' the more that it seemed to unify many disparate threads: from regulation tools, to deep meditation techniques and also seemed less abstract than talking about 'nervous system work'. So after many months of wrestling with the writing process, and receiving generous...
