[Podcast] Focusing on What Matters Most with Nat Eliason

In this episode, I’m speaking with a friend, author, entrepreneur & prolific writer Nat Eliason.

"The proof you can do hard things is one of the most powerful gifts you can give yourself."

— Nat Eliason

The timing of this conversation was interesting as we recorded it shortly before the US elections, after which the crypto markets shot back into the mainstream.

You’ll hear about the intense emotional rollercoaster he went through, losing millions of dollars in a very short period of time — how it felt to write about this — what he’s learned about cultivating creative endurance with his writing, as well as his perspective on relaxation versus numbing and how our relationship with work pushes us towards coping mechanisms rather than genuine rest.

[free workshop] Build a Nervous System AI Coach

I felt inspired to host an experimental workshop next Tuesday — we’ll be exploring how to harness chatGPT to act as our personalized 24/7 Nervous System Coach + Advisor. I don't know exactly how it's going to unfold yet, but here's some of what we'll be exploring:

📝 Design Your Codex Vitae

Typically, context of your unique life situation, desires & tendencies is the bottleneck for meaningful support from generic AI platforms. So, we’ll be exploring how to craft your own Codex Vitae (Book of Life) that you can upload as project knowledge to your coach.

🫁 Explore Nervous System Support

We’ll run through ways that you can co-create weekly experiments, weave in habits for self-regulation, uncover reactive tendencies, map somatic markers, ask for reflections on avoided emotions, or even get personalized supplement recommendations.

📆 Craft Cadence + Incentives

Exploring what are some of the mechanisms used by great coaches that typically lead to better outcomes (e.g. fixed schedule on the calendar? mimic financial incentives?)

💡 Get Creative with Prompting

Together, we’ll brainstorm a bunch of real-life scenarios, use cases, and questions to test it out and share with the group in a show + tell format.

~~

One compelling invitation for AI coaches/therapists can be an intimate mirror into our psyche and blindspots. Enhancing our humanity rather than diminishing it.

I certainly don’t have all the answers here, but I’m excited to explore some of these questions in the community and see what we can build together!

// INNER FRONTIER HQ Welcome to The Inner Frontier: Edition #1 7 years ago, I hit publish on the first Curious Humans Newsletter, and today — hundreds of issues and 72 podcast episodes later — the project comes to a close. The Curious Humans project was born from my obsession with the question of why, as kids, most of us were immensely curious, what was it that suppressed this as we grew older, and how might we go about reclaiming this as adults. It's hard to overstate how much I learnt and...
